Mumps and stuff
2006-05-02, 6:49 p.m.

I've so wanted to update for what seems like the longest time now, and as expected, I can't for the life of me remember what was so all-important.

Jack has been saying "Ma-ma" for more than 2 months now and I'm still not convinced that he ever means me when he says it. I'm now trying to get him to say "Da-da," but it only seems to make him more fond of his one word, "ma-ma." Speaking of babies, the baby fever not only in my company but in my department specifically, continues. What on earth did I start??? The latest in the string is actually pretty contraversial in that both parents-to-be work in our department and have been caught in various compromising positions at work (think high school, not porn--as best my gossip sources tell me). So that's interesting, and it extends the pregnant co-worker string through October or November, as best we figure. That's a full 2 years (my, has it been that long?!?) since the first, which was me. Who will be next? Only time will tell.

Aah yes, work and pregnant people. That reminds me of one thing I wanted to write. Possibly the Mumps epidemic in the Midwest has hit Ohio. Again, specifically, my department. Our first possible case was our other pregnant friend and the other is someone else on her shift. I guess it's not very exciting to write about, but it's pretty interesting in person given that we all expected to be immune to it. I'm also a little worried about carrying it home, if in fact they do actually have it (not totally confirmed yet) since Jack hasn't had his MMR vaccination yet.
