Myth of Marriage, Part 2
2010-09-19, 12:36 a.m.

...all right, tea has been acquired and dye is rinsed out of hair--as referenced in the previous, very recent entry.

The Myth of Marriage: More on what I was thinking... Again, I think the idea is nice and that's why so many of us think that we need this thing--this ring--as soon as we can get our hands on it (or it on our hands, as the case may be). I've heard recently, and actually I think it's been repeatedly, how ludicrous the idea of marriage is because it's one of the only contracts out there that never expires (excluding upon death of one of the parties) and there are no provisions for re-evaluating the terms on a periodic basis. Not only that, but the basic terms are the same for each and every person who enters into this arrangement. "For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, ...yada, yada... forsaking all others, till death do we part."

That. is. INSANITY...

Kudos to the people who do it--the sliver of people who make up the part of the 50% of American marriages who don't fail and aren't faking it, hiding something, medicating through it or just plain loathing their existence. Kudos to the portion of the other 50% who can realize how insane it is before they drag children into the mix.

*sigh* I can feel things changing... Shifting in many directions--not just in my marriage. It's not the music speeding up anymore, but rather slowing way down--as if to want to stop.

It makes me sad.
