Now I can't even remember what I wanted to write. Geez. No progress yet with the maternity leave situation. I'm still waiting on my doctor to get the letter ready.
Jack rolled over a total of three times (back to front, then I'd roll him back over), and now he's exhausted. He passed right out on the floor there when I rolled him back over the last time. Poor kid... Being a baby is such hard work, hehe. The stuff I have says that he "may roll over" at 4 months, and "rolls over easily" at 5 months, so that still puts him ahead of the curve, I'd say. We need to start baby-proofing ASAP!
Aaah, now I remember what I wanted to write about. There are new positions being created at work. I think I mentioned this before I went on maternity leave, but now it's in the final phases of being created and soon will be posted to be bid on. The one that I've been approached about is called "Investigations Specialist." The way my supervisor makes it sound, it's pretty much a done-deal that they've pre-selected me for it. I wonder if they think I'd like it. I wonder what makes them think that a science person would rather work in an office-desk-job rather than in the lab. Now, sure, evenutally you expect to end up behind a desk because there's only so far you can be promoted as a lab worker. What's worse is that my "competition" for the position is Kelly, who I think really wants it more than I do anyway. Kelly and I have been in silent competition for the next Microbiologist II promotion that comes up for a while now. When I was talking to my supervisor, she said that if Kelly does go for the specialist spot and if they do give it to me then maybe she'd talk to management about giving Kelly some sort of consolation prize promotion, hence Micro II. So I get the job she wants and she gets the one I want. There's really not much I can do about it at this point.
