Back to the drawing board

One step forward, two steps back, or so it seems.

In some sort of major memory-loss event, we forgot to ask about utilities on this apartment that we looked at over the weekend and are all set to sign the lease for at any time we wish. So yesterday we got back in touch with them on that. It seems that they pay NOTHING. We will/would continue to pay electric and throw in gas and water for some extra giggles. So not only is the rent a bit more than what we are accustomed to but we'll be paying about 5 times more in basic needs. That would make for a very boring 12-month lease term of sitting in front of a space heater eating Ramen noodles and playing Canasta by candlelight. Sooooo.... it's very doubtful that we will end up taking this apartment, which leaves us back in the place of having no place to live. Again.

We're going to look at another place on Saturday. My commute would be roughly the same amount of time, though entirely on the expressway, which makes me a bit ansy for the snow-months, but otherwise I'm okay with that I think. It's only about a 2 minute drive, at most, for Jeff to go to work, but it tacks on at least 15 more minutes to his drive to school. We'll see. We haven't got many options and certainly not much time to explore them if we did.
