We'll take the #3.
2006-01-28, 12:37 p.m.

Another step forward in the process...

We got the phone call earlier this week from the Landlord about our current lease. Somehow, Jeff escaped that situation without having to give full details on the circumstances of our move. I'm amazed at that, but it's just as well. So we pay next month's rent (of course, because we'll be here) and a fee for breaking the contract and that's all. Much better than the balance on the lease, so I'm way happy on that account. We let the No-utilities-included apartments know that we would keep them in mind, but we're shopping around for something better in the meantime, so that's taken care of too. And finally, we just went this morning to look at our second choice and put in the application for them. Again, we won't know if we have it until the beginning of next week. I think I explained before that although it's across town from where we are now, the impact to our commutes should be somewhat minimal. Unfortunately, we'll be paying a little more in rent than I had hoped, but at this point, what can you do? You might say we had 4 options in the 2-bedroom variety, all with varied amounts of space and price tags to go with them. We wanted #2, but thought we might be able to settle for #1 in an effort to save money. Well, #1 wasn't that great, smelled like the people who lived there before must've had cats and was on the side of the property next to the more ghetto looking cheaper apartments in the property next door. They didn't have any of the #2 style available (figures...), so she showed us a #3, which we weren't really even considering before. It was very nice--lots of closet space, etc. In the end, we're probably going to get the #4, which we didn't see but is supposed to be even bigger (the guy there moves out in a few days--then she's calling us back), but we're getting it for the #3 price. And I suppose that if we're utterly broke at the end of the 12-month lease, then we'll move again. It happens.
